The CDC is now releasing a major blow involving the fight against e-cigarettes. With many seeing e-cigarettes as a gateway drug, criticizers believe that non-smokers will be pulled from e-cigarettes in to trying the real thing. There is also fear of the unknown long-term effects of using e-cigarettes. Protestors of them are retaliating by trying to get both the age and price elevated.
This report surprisingly went against the criticizer’s fears. This is the first national report of its kind and revealed that only .4% of people who had never tried tobacco before were currently vapors (either smoked e-cigarettes daily or a little less frequently). This report additionally uncovered that smoking cigarettes among early smokers is decreasing and the use of e-cigarettes is growing. Action on Smoking and Health also reported that the majority of consistent users were young adults who had been or were currently cigarette smokers.
